If your registration is also due, the hut handles the renewal paperwork in the same stop. The DMV mails your new registration sticker to your address on record, so you are done in one visit with nothing left to track down.
The HQ hut is licensed and authorized by the State of Nevada to handle the full set of DMV services, not just smog checks. Standard turnaround on most DMV transactions is 7 to 10 business days. Renewal stickers and personalized plates mail directly from the DMV to your address. Title documents also mail directly to your address on record -- they never come back to the hut. Replacement plates, handicap placards, reinstatement paperwork, and non-personalized plates for transfers come back to the hut for pickup, and you get a call when they arrive. Smog Busters is not the DMV. Your paperwork is filed through the state the same way any Nevada-licensed DMV services provider does.
