Which services can you get as a walk-in?

Standard DMV services at Smog Busters include:

• Nevada registration renewal.
• Standard title transfer.
• Duplicate or lost title help.
• License plate paperwork.
• Handicap placard paperwork.
• Temporary movement permits.

We also help with eligible New Vehicle Registration and Out-of-State Vehicle Registration. Staff can review the vehicle and owner papers to see which process applies.

Each job must meet Nevada rules. Some cases need more papers or a state DMV visit. Staff will let you know if we cannot process the work.

Registration Renewal

Can Smog Busters renew your Nevada registration?

Yes. We process many standard Nevada registration renewals. Bring your renewal notice or current registration card, along with a photo ID and proof of Nevada insurance.

Many vehicles in Clark County need a smog test each year. If your vehicle is due, complete the test before you renew. The passing result must be in the state system.

A hold, insurance lapse, unpaid ticket, or other record problem may stop the renewal. Staff can check the record and explain what needs to be fixed. If another agency placed the hold, that agency may need to clear it.

The price depends on the vehicle and its record. Nevada registration fees and taxes are separate from the Smog Busters service fee.

Use the same name and home address shown on the vehicle record. Bring proof of your new address if you moved.

Title Transfers

Can Smog Busters handle a title transfer?

Yes. We handle standard title transfers for many private sales, gifts, and other owner changes. Bring the original title, a photo ID, and any lien release. Add the bill of sale if you have one.

If you do not know where to sign, bring the title as it is. A signature in the wrong box can delay the transfer. Staff can check it before you make a mark.

Keep the title flat and dry. Do not use white-out or cross out a name.

Smog Busters checks and submits the title papers. We do not print the physical Nevada title at the location. Nevada DMV processes the case and mails the title to the owner. It may take about six weeks to arrive.

Smog Busters handles salvage and rebuilt title inspections only at the East Sahara location.

Duplicate Titles

Can you get help with a lost or damaged title?

Smog Busters can help with many duplicate title requests. You may need one if a Nevada title was lost, stolen, damaged, or never received.

The owner details must match the state record. A vehicle with a lien may need more papers or approval from the lienholder. Bring any old title copy or vehicle record you still have.

After the state processes the request, it mails the new title to you. Smog Busters does not print it or hold it for pickup. Plan for about six weeks when the case includes a physical title.

Do not use the old title if you find it later. The new title takes its place.

Plate Paperwork

Which license plate services are available?

Smog Busters helps with standard plate paperwork. The steps depend on what happened to the plate and what you need next.

Common requests include:

• Paperwork for a registration.
• Help with a lost, stolen, or damaged plate.
• Plate surrender documents.
• Plate changes tied to eligible vehicle work.

Bring both plates if you still have them, along with any registration papers. A police report can help if someone stole a plate. Keep any plate receipt with the rest of your file.

Special plate requests may have added state rules and fees. Staff will review the request before taking payment.

Movement Permits

Can Smog Busters issue a temporary movement permit?

Yes. Smog Busters issues temporary movement permits on site for eligible vehicles. The permit allows limited driving for the dates and use printed on it.

You may need a movement permit before full registration is complete. It can let you drive to a smog test, repair shop, inspection, or another approved stop.

The permit is not a full registration. Keep it in the vehicle and stay within its dates and use limits. Driving outside those terms may lead to a ticket.

Before you drive, check the start date and end date. Place the permit where it can be seen in the car.

Bring proof that you own or control the vehicle. Staff may also need the VIN, a photo ID, insurance details, and other papers tied to the job.

Placard Paperwork

Can you get handicap placard paperwork help?

Smog Busters can send in some handicap placard forms. Nevada needs the right form. Many requests also need a doctor or other care provider to sign.

Bring your photo ID and all filled-out forms. Check each name, date, and signature. Ask your care provider to fill in any blank medical field. A blank can stop the request.

The state decides who may get a placard. We check and send the forms. We do not make the medical choice.

VIN Checks

Does Smog Busters offer VIN inspections?

A VIN inspection checks that the number on the vehicle matches its papers. Smog Busters performs this check only as part of a qualifying full DMV transaction at the same visit.

We do not offer stand-alone VIN inspections. Bring the vehicle and all owner papers if your full transaction may need the check.

Service Limits

Which services must go elsewhere?

Smog Busters does not issue driver licenses, state ID cards, or Real ID cards. We do not renew driver licenses or give written and driving tests.

Some vehicle cases must go to a state DMV office. A state review may be needed when two people dispute ownership or the record does not match the papers.

Staff must review the papers and vehicle record before accepting a case. Some cases fall outside the work Smog Busters can process.

What should you bring to Smog Busters?

Bring every document tied to the vehicle and the job. The exact list changes by service, but you may need:

• A valid photo ID.
• The current registration card or renewal notice.
• The original title for an owner change.
• A bill of sale when one was used.
• Proof of Nevada insurance.
• Any lien release, court paper, or state notice tied to the case.

If you do not know what a form is for, bring it. Staff can sort the full set before the work begins. A bad date, missed name, or blank field can stop the case.

Bring the vehicle when the visit may include a smog test or a VIN inspection within a full DMV transaction. Keep title papers clean and unfolded when you can. Do not add marks or use correction fluid.
