A North Las Vegas Landmark
A North Las Vegas Campus With Deep Community Roots
CSN’s North Las Vegas campus on Cheyenne Avenue brings people together for more than classes. The college dates to 1971. Today, people also come to campus for live performances, gallery exhibits, and shows at the Planetarium.
Cars are part of life here, too. Auto tech students learn diagnostics and work with hybrid vehicles, using skills that help modern cars run clean. Outside the classroom, many people in the surrounding area depend on a car, truck, or van. Census data shows that about 9 in 10 local workers commute that way.
With so many people driving, smog checks become a normal part of owning a vehicle in North Las Vegas. Even a new car will eventually need a passing test before its registration can be renewed, unless the vehicle qualifies for an exemption.

Smog-Related Follow-Up
What If Your Car Doesn’t Pass the Smog Check?
Not every car passes its smog check on the first try. If yours doesn’t, the Las Vegas Blvd N shop can help with the next step. It is one of four Smog Busters locations certified as a 2G station. That means the state allows it to test your car and also find and fix emissions problems. You don’t have to hunt for a separate repair shop to learn why it failed.
The repair work here covers smog-related problems only. It isn’t a full-service mechanic, so brakes, tires, and other general repairs need to go somewhere else.
Being a 2G station also means this shop can do repairs through Smog Free Clark County, a county program that helps eligible drivers pay for emissions repairs.
Your Visit
What to Expect When You Pull In
You don’t need an appointment. The shop is open Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 6 PM and Saturday from 8 AM to 4 PM, and it is closed on Sunday. This location tests gasoline vehicles only, so if you drive a diesel, head to the E Sahara and Atlantic location instead. Spanish-language help is available here.
Pull up to the hut and a technician will take it from there. Most smog checks take 15 minutes or less, which makes it easy to fit one in between classes.
If your car passes, the result goes straight to the Nevada DMV electronically. You can renew your registration on the spot, and you don’t need your renewal notice because the shop can look up your vehicle by its VIN. The Nevada DMV then mails your new registration sticker to the address on file.
