After Drop-Off
A Smog Check on the Way Back From Lawrence Drop-Off
Clifford J. Lawrence Junior High sits on Juliano Road, just south of Flamingo between Durango Drive and El Capitan Way. It’s home to the Lawrence Lions, who are in grades 6 through 8. If you’re one of the parents in the morning drop-off line, your car is already out before most errands are even open.
That’s where the hut fits. It opens at 7:30 a.m. on weekdays, so you can pull up right after drop-off and have the smog check done before work or the rest of your morning. Weekday mornings also mean you won’t have to give up part of a Saturday for it.

Check Before You Drive
What the W Flamingo & Cimarron Hut Can Test
The hut tests gasoline vehicles, including gas-electric hybrids. It doesn’t test diesels, so if the family truck runs on diesel, you’ll need a location that handles diesel testing.
This is also a testing-only hut. It runs the Nevada emissions test, but it doesn’t diagnose or repair a car that fails. If your check engine light is on, the Nevada DMV still says to get tested. A failed result is the first step if your car needs emissions repairs, and a 2G certified repair station can take it from there.
Directions to the Hut
From Lawrence Junior High to W Flamingo & Cimarron
The route uses three main roads, and every turn after Durango is a right.
Head north to Rochelle Avenue. From the west side of campus, take Juliano Road. From the University Avenue side, follow University east until it curves north into Amber Point Street.
2Turn right on Rochelle and go east to Durango Drive.
3Turn left on Durango and head north to Flamingo Road.
4Turn right on Flamingo. Just after you pass Sean Patrick’s, turn right into the driveway. The hut is on your left as you pull in, and the Nevada DMV Flamingo office is across the street.

If you’d like the route on your phone, here are directions from Lawrence Junior High to Smog Busters. For a map app, the address is 8235 W Flamingo Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89147. From the road, look for the Green Valley Grocery Shell sign at the Cimarron corner.
No Appointment
Pull Up Any Weekday Morning
You don’t need to book a time. The hut is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, and it’s closed on Sunday.
A technician will greet you when you pull up. Most smog checks take 15 minutes or less once the test starts. Another driver may be ahead of you, though, so give yourself a little extra time if you have to be somewhere afterward.
Registration Renewal
Pass the Test and Renew Before You Head to Work
The smog check comes first. If your car passes and your registration is due, the hut can renew it on the spot, so the whole thing is handled in one morning stop. Your renewal notice can stay at home, because the technician looks up your car by its VIN.
The sticker isn’t handed to you at the hut. The Nevada DMV mails it to the address it has on file, so check that your address is up to date before you renew.
