Standard Nevada Title Transfer
When you buy or sell a vehicle, the title needs to be transferred to reflect the new owner. The Fort Apache and Twain station handles standard private party and standard dealer purchase paperwork on a walk-in basis.
For a basic title transfer, insurance is not required. If you are also registering the vehicle at the same time, then insurance documentation will be needed. If only transferring the title, the standard documents are the signed title, a bill of sale, and a valid ID.
What Happens After the Transfer
After the title transfer paperwork is processed at the station, the paperwork goes to the state. Your physical title documents are processed and mailed directly to the address on file by the Nevada DMV and may take approximately 6 weeks. They do not come back to the station.
If you are also registering the vehicle in the same visit, current Nevada insurance is required. Your registration sticker will be mailed separately from the Nevada DMV to your address.
