What a Duplicate Title Is in Nevada
Lost your title, had it stolen, or it’s damaged beyond use? A duplicate title replaces it. Once the DMV issues the new one, the old title’s no good anymore.

We submit everything to the Nevada DMV on your behalf. They process it and mail out the physical title, which usually takes around 6 weeks. Just a heads up: we don’t print or hold titles here for pickup, so before we file, let’s make sure your mailing address is current.
When You Need a Duplicate Title in Nevada
A lost title replacement is also called a duplicate title. These are common reasons to request one:
- Lost title. Moved houses, cleaned a desk, cleaned out a parent’s paperwork. The original title is just gone.
- Stolen title. Broken into vehicle or home and the title was in a document folder. Report the theft to police for your records. Bring the report number if you have one.
- Destroyed title. Fire, flood, torn, soaked. Anything that makes the original unreadable.
- Damaged title. If the entries or signatures are too hard to read, bring what is left. A duplicate may be needed.
- After paying off a loan. The lender may order a printed title or provide a lien release. Bring those papers so we can check the request.
- Name or address change. Let us know what changed. Bring the records that show the change.
What to Bring for a Duplicate Title
The legal owner of record must complete the title application. If there is a loan or lease, that owner may be the lender or lessor. Bring your papers so we can check the record.
- Owner signing in person. Our duplicate-title filing policy requires each owner to come in and sign. We do not take power of attorney instead of an owner for this filing.
- Nevada photo ID. Photo ID is required to sign the duplicate title affidavit.
- Vehicle papers. Bring your Nevada registration if you have it. We can also look up the vehicle by VIN.
- Lien release. If you paid off a loan, bring the lender papers. The record determines what release is needed.
- Police report number, if available. If you reported a stolen title, bring the case number.
- Payment for DMV fees and our service fee. Call us for a current quote. We accept cash, cards, and Tap to Pay. Checks cover DMV fees only. Make checks payable to the Nevada DMV.
How the Duplicate Title Process Works at the Hut

- File the papers. The visit takes about 15 minutes. We check the owner, VIN, and ID. You sign the application.

- Lender in another state. Bring your lender and lien release papers. We check what the vehicle record needs.
- Name has changed. Bring the marriage record, divorce decree, or court order. We help file the name-change papers with the request.
