What to Bring
For a standard smog check, you don’t need much. Make sure your vehicle is warm before you arrive — a cold engine can affect some test readings. Bring your vehicle registration if you have it, though it’s not required for the test itself.
If your registration is due and you want to renew at the same visit, bring your renewal notice if you received one. The hut can also check your renewal status without it, but having the notice speeds things up.
- Your vehicle — warmed up, ideally driven at least 10 minutes before arriving
- Registration or renewal notice (helpful but not required for the smog test alone)
- Any competitor coupon you want to use — bring it before your ticket is written up
After Your Vehicle Passes
Once your vehicle passes, the result goes directly to the Nevada DMV system. If you’re renewing your registration, you can do it at the same hut in the same visit. You won’t need to go online, mail anything in, or make a second trip. Renewal stickers are mailed directly from the DMV to your address on file.
If your vehicle’s registration isn’t due yet, you’re done. The pass result is already on file with the DMV and will be there when your renewal comes around.
