Emissions Testing
Tropicana & Morris

Before the Nevada DMV will renew your registration, your vehicle needs to pass a current emissions test. If you are on the east side of the valley in Stallion Mountain, Whitney, or Palm Gardens, the test is right here on E Tropicana.

The hut at 5215 E Tropicana Ave sits in the lot across from the Whitney Library, next to the liquor store and Butch Cassidy’s bar. You can pull up during business hours, get the required Nevada emissions test for your vehicle, and your result is submitted electronically to the Nevada DMV when your vehicle passes. Most standard tests are finished in under 15 minutes. This is a 1G station, which means qualifying gasoline vehicles only. No diesel testing, no smog repair, and no diagnostics are performed at this location. No appointment is needed.

How the Test Works

What Actually Happens During Your Emissions Test on Tropicana

Nevada requires many Clark County vehicles to pass a current emissions test before the DMV will process a registration renewal. If your vehicle passes, the result is submitted electronically to the Nevada DMV so your renewal can move forward. You can pull up during business hours, get the required Nevada emissions test for your vehicle, and registration renewal can follow in the same visit without you leaving the lot.

A passing test result goes directly to the Nevada DMV electronically. You do not need to bring a printed certificate anywhere. Renewal paperwork follows right here at the hut.

What Can Cause a Vehicle to Fail

An illuminated check engine light is a reliable indicator that a vehicle will not pass. The light signals an active fault code, which typically means the vehicle has an issue that will cause a failure. The vehicle can still be tested to generate an official result, but a failure is likely. If your check engine light is on, be aware of that before coming in. This hut does not perform diagnostics or repair work.

1G Station: What That Means for You

A 1G station performs standard Nevada emissions testing for qualifying gasoline vehicles. Diesel testing, smog-related diagnosis, and smog repair are not available at this hut. If your situation involves a diesel vehicle or failed-smog repair, call (702) 436-5346 and we will point you to the right Smog Busters location.

Location: 5215 E Tropicana Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89122. In the lot with the liquor store and Butch Cassidy’s bar. Whitney Library directly across the street. Mon–Fri 8am–6pm, Sat 8am–4pm.
After the Test

Pass and Renew in One Trip to Tropicana

If your vehicle passes, the hard part is already done. The result goes to the Nevada DMV electronically and your registration renewal can be processed right there at the hut. You do not need to go to a DMV office. Your new registration sticker is mailed by the Nevada DMV to the address on file for your vehicle.

Make sure your mailing address with the DMV is current before renewing. If you have moved since your last registration, flag it during this visit so the sticker goes to the right address. See the registration renewal page for Tropicana & Morris for the full checklist of what to bring.

Discounts are available on the smog check. Competitor coupons matched up to $5 off. Seniors, active or retired military, and first responders get $3 off. Stack both for up to $8 off. Mention it before the ticket is written. See coupon details for Tropicana & Morris.
