Registration Renewal
Nellis & Sahara

Your registration is due and you need the smog check taken care of before the Nevada DMV will process the paperwork. Both can usually be handled in one stop on Nellis Blvd. No appointment needed.

Pull up to 2330 S Nellis Blvd in the Carl’s Jr. parking lot, directly in front of The Great Greek Restaurant and Jaybird’s Nashville Hot Chicken. The smog check runs first. If your vehicle passes, results are submitted electronically to the Nevada DMV and the renewal follows right there. Your new sticker is mailed by the Nevada DMV to the address they have on file for you. Whether you are coming from Orchards, Winterwood Village, Cottonwood at Sunrise Mountain, or any of the neighborhoods along this stretch of Nellis, this hut is already on your route.

How It Works

Smog Check First, Renewal Right After

Clark County requires most vehicles to have a current passing emissions test before the Nevada DMV will process a registration renewal. At this hut, those two steps happen back to back without you leaving the lot.

When you pull up, the tech connects to your vehicle’s OBD port and runs the standard Nevada emissions test. The test takes most vehicles under 15 minutes. If your vehicle passes, the result goes directly to the Nevada DMV electronically. You do not need to submit it separately. Renewal paperwork follows immediately after. Your new registration sticker is then mailed by the Nevada DMV to the address they have on file for you.

If your address has changed since your last registration, mention it during the visit. The Nevada DMV record needs to be updated before the sticker ships so it goes to the right place.

What to Bring

Your renewal notice is the most convenient item. If you do not have it, bring your registration card or your plate number. Your current insurance documents and a payment method are also needed. The renewal notice usually lists the fees due so you know what to expect.

Registration Overdue?

Late registrations can still be handled here in most cases. Pull the vehicle in, get the smog check done, and renewal follows. Late fees may have accrued depending on how long ago the registration expired. For anything involving reinstatement after a suspension rather than a simple lapse, call (702) 436-5346 before driving out.

Location: 2330 S Nellis Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89142. In the Carl’s Jr. parking lot. Look for The Great Greek Restaurant and Jaybird’s Nashville Hot Chicken directly in front of the hut. Mon–Fri 8am–6pm, Sat 8am–4pm.

Registration Renewal FAQ: Nellis & Sahara

Do I need a smog check to renew my registration at Nellis & Sahara?

What do I need to bring for registration renewal at Nellis & Sahara?
Bring your renewal notice or your vehicle registration card, your current insurance, and your payment. If you do not have your renewal notice, your plate number or vehicle information is usually enough to pull up the record.

Your new registration sticker is mailed by the Nevada DMV to the address they have on file for your vehicle. Processing and mailing time varies. If your address has changed, mention it during the visit so the DMV record gets updated before the sticker ships.
